We offer 2SLGBTQIA+ education workshops that are designed to spark conversation, and develop understanding and empathy toward the experiences of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, that are tailored specifically to the work environment your organization operates in. Our services curate understanding through a unique mix of queer history, current queer experience, as well as a mix of first-voice and advocacy-related experiences supported by statistics, data, and real-world examples.
Public Speaking, Event Planning and Hosting
As a TEDx Speaker and veteran public speaker, Mica offers engaging public speaking and keynote addresses on a variety of issues impacting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. As a human rights and gender-based violence expert, Mica centers engaging and thought-provoking discussion around queer culture, social climate, and modern queer experience. Respectful Workplace and Workplace Wellness Assessments
Are you looking to understand how your employees feel about their workplace, and take meaningful steps to make your workplace a more welcoming and warm environment? We perform assessments that provide your organization with qualitative and quantitative data through anonymous employee surveys to better understand factors that impact long-term employee retention like whether they feel respected in the workplace, and whether they feel employee benefits and corporate culture support overall employees wellness.
Alternative Dispute Resolution and Mediation
With years of experience in Human Rights, and considered a leading mind on 2SLGBTQIA+ Human Rights in Nova Scotia, Mica offers full-service alternative dispute resolution and mediation services, with the ability to take on large, complex resolution files. Working through a lens of restorative practice and repairing harm, Mica offers comfortable and flexible resolution services that are barrier-free for organizations any size to engage with. While the majority of preparation work is conducted by email (pre-conference submissions, communication regarding dates, etc.) our services include the ability to conduct in-person resolution conferences, dispute resolution mediations, and arbitrations in our historic location in downtown Halifax, in booked venues cross-country, as well as hybrid, or fully online.

Free 2SLGBTQIA+ Community Resources
We publish research briefs that address important issues like gender-based violence, trans inclusion in provincial sports, and more. We also offer regular community events like 2SLGBTQ+ Human Rights 101, GBV survivor support, free social events, and more. While we provide a wealth of free human rights and legal information for 2SLGBTQIA+ Nova Scotians, we do not provide any form of legal advice.
Free Community Resource Navigation Services
We offer two types of resource navigation. We offer simple community resource navigation, offering individuals knowledge and insight on safe services, organizations, resources, and more. We also offer additional support around legal resource navigation, connecting individuals with services like the Independent Legal Advice (ILA) program, legal aid resources, and more. While we provide a wealth of free human rights and legal information for 2SLGBTQIA+ Nova Scotians, we do not provide any form of legal advice. We do not take on individual advocacy files.
Our programs and services are all offered through the lens of being delivered in a trauma-informed, decolonized, culturally competent manner, and utilizing the core tenets of restorative practice.
We are deeply committed to giving back to likeminded organizations, and offer significantly reduced hourly rates to any registered non-profits, charities, societies, and organizations who serve or represent equity deserving communities across Mi'kma'ki and Turtle Island.
We remain committed to offering research, community programs and events that support 2SLGBTQIA+ Nova Scotians, free of charge.
